Explorer Post offered by Rolling Hills zoo

Rolling Hills Wildlife Adventure is partnering with the Coronado Area Council to offer an Explorer Post, a program for career education.

The program is open to people ages 14 to 20 who are interested in the career opportunities available in zoos. People who participate will obtain certification in a variety of career fields through hands-on, project-based, student-directed learning experiences.

Students will meet twice monthly at Rolling Hills Wildlife Adventure. There will be some weekend and daytime projects.

An informational meeting is planned for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Coronado Area Council office, 644 S. Ohio.

Help session for genealogists planned

The Salina Public Library will host a help session for genealogists from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Experienced genealogists will be available to answer questions concerning research problems. The guest genealogist will be Jim Brown, a longtime member of the Smoky Valley Genealogical Society. He became interested in family history in 1969 as a health project in school. He renewed his interest in genealogy in the 1990s when Internet resources became available.

Brown's major areas of focus involves Irish research and Catholic church records.
